W.I.N - Whitsons Interactive Nutrition

Whitsons offers a variety of value added services to all of the clients that we serve. Our skilled team of registered dietitians have developed these programs to enhance the health and wellness of your district.

The connection between wellness and health is hard to ignore-with 1/3 of children and adolescents being either overweight or obese, the number of individuals with chronic diseases has skyrocketed to historic levels. These diseases have short and long-term effects which makes it difficult for children to learn, especially when they’re frequently absent.

Some of the services we offer are:

Workshops and Presentations

We offer a variety of workshop and presentation topics to fit your needs. Some popular topics include: Sports Nutrition for Peak Performance, Food Allergies & Sensitivities, Facts Behind Fat & Sugar, and Nutrition Management for Diabetes. In addition, we are happy to create customized workshops and presentations based on specific topics of interest in your district- just ask! They can be geared towards students, faculty members and/or parents.

Nutrition Regulation In-Services

As Whitsons RDs, we focus on the connection between food, fitness, and health; which is why providing education on current state and federal nutrition regulations is so important. It is important to understand how these regulations affect and transform the districts menu and fuel your students.

Nutrition Counseling

Sit down with one of our dietitians and receive nutrition counseling to help you with not just eating well, but also with managing any medical conditions you have. Examples include controlling blood sugars, losing or gaining weight, avoiding gluten, identifying undiagnosed food sensitivities- and so much more. We also counsel athletes to enhance their performance on and off the field. This is a great way to get sound, unbiased, individualized dietary guidance from a nutrition expert.

Secondary School Nutrition Program

Tweens and teens need to be able to embrace their individuality, while learning how to make healthy dining choices. Our secondary school nutrition program reinforces healthier eating, while providing a variety of menu options from which to choose.

  • Wholesome Menus with Many Choices Daily. At the secondary level, our program includes a variety of menu options at various themed food stations. The stations have menu options that are always available, as well as menu specials that change daily. Fresh fruits and veggies are served every day, as well as a variety of lean proteins, whole grains, low fat dairy, and 100% fruit juice. Visit our Menu List page to see our menus
  • SPICETM Quarterly Menu Special Program. Our quarterly SPICE marketing program features 20-30 special limited-time-offer menu options around a specific, seasonally-appropriate theme.
    Holiday or Seasonal Theme Days and Recurring Monthly Promotions. Each month we celebrate special holidays or seasonal theme days with a special themed menu to add interest and excitement to the menu. Check out our menus for details on special menu days.
  • Fruit/Vegetable of the Month Program. In addition to the wide variety of vegetables and fruits we offer on our daily menus, we highlight a different fruit or vegetable each month, with additional menu offerings, posters and flyers. 
  • Activity of the Month Program. Various seasonally appropriate activities are highlighted each month on posters and flyers, to remind students of the importance of regular physical activity.
  • Smart ChoicesTM Secondary Nutrition Education Program. Every month, we feature a special nutrition message and corresponding Smart Choices theme menu to educate the students about an important nutrition topic. These topics are supported by our monthly Smart Choices newsletter, which is distributed via our Smart Choices message centers, along with our Smart Choices info series cards on various nutrition topics.
